a Writeback for PowerPivot - User guide

aW4P installs its ribbon in ADD-INS tab of Excel.
The following are the applicatipon buttons:

1. Settings: Show/hide wriback settings UI


2. Deploy: Create a new workbook with the extended model


3. Edit: Start/Stop in place editing


4. Show Changes: Show/Hide the sheets that contain the writeback tables


5. Refresh Changes: Relaod data from writeback tables


6. Discard Changes: Clear data in writeback tables

By Writeback settings you can declare

1. For any COLUMN you want


2. the TYPE: Granularity vs Editable


3. If Granularity SOURCE belongs to another column of the model that contains the 'keys'


4. If Editable RELATED MEASURE belongs to a measure of the model. Implicit (created by Excel dragging from field list) measures are not supported


5. ALLOCATION is the allocation method on the leaves.


6. WEIGHTED EXPRESSION (optional) is the weight ( in MDX sysntax ) used in allocation on the leaves.

Pressing 'Edit' you can enter data in pivot

You can enable Automatically vs Manually update

You can View changes or Refresh changes or Discard changes

In case of Manually update you can confirm or discard the pending values by two buttons in the pivottable contextual tabs
